SONG INFO:

Hammerhead is the lead single from The Offspring's 2008 album, Rise & Fall,
Rage & Grace. Although it didn't achieve the same amount of attention that
You're Gonna Go Far Kid and Kristy Are You Doing Okay, it's still probably
one of the most ambitious and certainly creative tracks they've recorded to
date. I've always thought that this song would make an interesting
simfile, but due to its intricacy and sheer aggression, I thought it would
work a lot more effectively as an ITG track than as a DDR one.

STEP INFO:
----------

NOVICE // 1 BLOCK:

ITG Novice charts are usually easier than DDR Beginner charts, so that's
how I approached this. Most measures have only a single note, until the
later phrases, when there are two per measure.

EASY // 4 BLOCKS:

This is not too bad until the instrumental climax, which is full of long
quarter streams with jumps in the middle of everything.

MEDIUM // 6 BLOCKS:

A fairly typical ITG-style Medium chart. Most of this is pretty patterned
and doesn't exploit the song to the most complicated degree, but it's
relatively easy to follow and still has a fair amount of step variety,

HARD // 8 BLOCKS:

Unlike my DDR-style Heavy stepcharts, I mostly avoided using double-steps
in-between sets of streams and mostly follow the tune of the song. Of
course, the track itself lends itself to a lot of interesting possibilities
to take advantage of, but overall this probably isn't too avant-garde for
the average player of this level.

EXPERT // 10 BLOCKS:

This is a pretty variable ITG Expert stepchart. It doesn't really have any
'death' phrases per se, but it's pretty draining and challenges the player
on many fronts. There are a LOT of step-jumps across this set, many of
them used pretty irregularly. In addition to that, you've got some 16th
streams that follow the interluding drums rolls, as well as a minefield
during the quiet buildup to the instrumental climax.

OTHER NOTES:
------------

+ Graphics were made by me using Photoshop CS2. I included a DDR-style
banner for those who prefer it.
+ Hammerhead and The Offspring are owned by Columbia Records. This simfile
is purely meant for enjoyment, and I take no credit for anything in the
song except for the cut I made for this simfile to bring the track to DDR
  length.
+ Special thanks to BlueSS for hosting this competition, as well as all
other Best-Mixes, plus the OSC series. Every contest I've participated
in since entering the simfile community has been a smashing success and a
  ton of fun.
